Gaffer Glass

THE ALZHEIMER’S GLASS AND IRON TEAM IS EXTREMELY GRATEFUL FOR THE GENEROUS DONATION OF GLASS COLOR MADE BY GAFFER GLASS.

Alzheimer’s Iron is a multi-step, cross-generational art project that will benefit the Alzheimer’s A...
ssociation. The project consists of four steps: production of artwork by elderly community members, interpretation and rendered sculptures (by iron castors, glass castors and glass blowers) and gallery shows that culminate in an auction of the featured art pieces. The Alzheimer’s Glass and Iron project is being overseen by Angus Powers and Coral Lambert at Alfred University. The kind donation made by Gaffer Glass will be used in support of this project taking place at Alfred University's School of Art and Design.

Once again, "thank you" Hallynd Hall and the team at Gaffer Glass USA.

Alzheimer's Glass and Iron Mentor Spotlight

The Alzheimer’s Glass and Iron project warmly welcomes a new advisor and mentor to the team:  Angus Powers ( Alfred University School of Art and Design Professor of Sculpture and Dimensional Studies) joins us!  Angus will serve as project advisor throughout the coming year.

Elderly residents from Western New York who are suffering with Alzheimer and Dementia will use watercolors and iron oxides paints create artworks.  In turn, members of the Alzheimer’s Glass and Iron project will use glass and iron to create sculptures in response or homage to the painting.

Alzheimer's Glass and Iron Mentor and Advisor spotlight

Dr. Julia Overton-Healy defines herself as a mentor, guide, teacher and advocate for young people who want to learn how to make a real difference in the world. With expertise in leadership and communications, Julia derives energy and optimism from working with her students. She is married and lives in northern Potter County Pennsylvania. In her down time, Julia is an avid reader and enjoys woods walks, gardening and porch sitting.

Her feelings on the Alzheimer's Iron Project:
Whatever my role may be with Alzheimer’s Iron the greatest praise must go to Rosemarie for her vision, creativity, leadership and ambition. Rosemarie’s work with Alzheimer’s Iron is, in my opinion, one of the most innovative and impactful projects I’ve ever had the pleasure to be connected with. I predict we will see her on the international stage as AI gains followers, advocates and supporters. She is the among the best of our young leaders.
